Millennium Bridge - Red Arrows

NEWCASTLE GATESHEAD MILLENIUM BRIDGE & RED ARROWS

I was commissioned to shoot the Great North Run, and had a ‘go anywhere pass’. I knew the Red Arrows were coming up river, so positioned myself in a tight corner under the Millennium Bridge, and as they approached, had only a split second to fire off my shots. I like this one because the jet trails mirror the structure of the bridge. I gave a talk to a camera club afterwards, and saw a group gathered around this print, concluding that I had ‘Photoshopped’ the jets in! I had to tell them I hadn’t, but still don’t know if they believed me. (Canon EOS 1DS III,1/250th secs, f16, + ½ stop)
