The Brazier
As a Miner myself for 23 years the Miners Strike of 1984-85 wasn't only history it was a very large part of My history & had a profound effect on myself & everyone from the Mining Communities who lived through it.
I attended Picket Duty all throughout that year because I firmly believed that we had to defend our colliery's against closure & help ensure the future for the communities that depended upon them. I have seen countless photos of the dispute but never a painting, let alone a watercolour & it certainly stirred memory's creating what are to me the most personal images I have so far undertaken.
