Into the light
I am fascinated by the patterns and texture in natural growth and in particular, grasses and seeds. This painting was based on a photograph I took in Winter of grasses near to the river in my village (Shotley Bridge in Consett) The contrast between the brightness of the sky and darkness of the undergrowth was stark. There is a beauty in what has been left behind when life has retreated and a hope of life to come. The original painting made the final selection stage for the British Pastel Society Open Exhibition in London and was subsequently sold to a private collector
